#430 - Global Warming, Part 2: Human Consequences Of Global Warming
نویسنده
چکیده
As we saw last week, the worldwide scientific community has reached consensus that global warming is inevitable if humans continue to dump "greenhouse gases" into the atmosphere at anything like present rates. Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and a few others. These gases act like the glass covering a greenhouse, letting sunlight in but stopping heat from escaping, thus driving up the average temperature of our earthly "greenhouse" sooner or later. The main contributor to the greenhouse effect is naturally-occurring water vapor, which keeps the planet's thermostat set at a pleasant 59 degrees or so (Fahrenheit), average. But the main HUMAN contribution to greenhouse warming is carbon dioxide, which is released whenever fossil fuels are burned; fossil fuels include oil, natural gas and coal. Carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have been rising relentlessly for a century.

One of the atmospheric hazards that seriously affect human life and health is the occurrence of thermal tensions and stress in the form of heat and cold waves. Iran is one of the areas of the planet that has climate variability due to its geographical characteristics; therefore, consequently, its different regions are not immune to heat and cold waves. On the other hand, Iran's climate variabil...

Background: Due to the greenhouse gases emission caused by human activities there is wide agreement about global warming. Methane is one of the most dangerous greenhouse gases in the global warming process which is produced through human activities and natural processes. In addition, the use of fertilizers and chemical pesticides would produce nitrogen monoxide in the atmosphere. This gas is an...
متن کاملPlanktonic Foraminifera Response to Sudden Global Warming in Late Maastrichtian, a Case Study from Ziyarat-Kola, Central Alborz, Iran
An abrupt global warming event has been recorded in many parts of the world in sediments of Latest Maastrichtian age between 65.45-65.10 Ma. This warm event was documented here at a section near Ziyarat-kola in Central Alborz based on analysis of planktonic foraminifera. An unusual abundance of normally large-size species such as Globotruncana arca, Globigerinelloides subcarinatus, Pseudoguembe...
